BOMA Canada is excited to announce year 3 of the Net Zero Challenge, supported by Natural Resources Canada and sponsored by Bullfrog Power, a Spark Power company. This year’s Net Zero Challenge presents some unique challenges given a world-wide pandemic. We discussed with our partners, the possibility of postponing the award but our members suggested otherwise. Collectively, their commitment to improving the sustainability of their buildings and wanting to show this industry’s ability to rally together during difficult times, won out. We commend them for this.
“Energy Efficiency is key to building our clean energy future. As we work to contain the COVID-19 pandemic and protect Canadians, our government remains committed to achieving net zero by 2050” says the Honourable Seamus O’Regan, Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources.
During this unique time, it is important to note that the Net Zero Challenge can be completed without any personal contact, thanks to the online application and remote judging process.
The deadline is July 15, 2020 for all three awards categories: Best in Class, Most Improved and Innovation. Winners will be announced at this year’s National Awards Winners Gala during BOMEX 2020. Though we are working out the details on a revised program for BOMEX and the National Awards Gala, we can confirm that these programs will happen, in some manner, later this year.
