About BOMA Canada

Introducing the 2020 Yearbook

We are incredibly humbled by our members’ support, even as we are deeply proud of what we have accomplished together. BOMA has been active in Canada for over 100 years, and if 2020 is any indication, we’re going to be around for 100 more – with you, every step of the way, through thick and thin,
connecting, resourcing and elevating the commercial real estate industry.

Who We Are

“BOMA Canada facilitates national initiatives and the exchange of ideas that support our member associations in the promotion of education, advocacy, recognition of excellence and networking.”

BOMA Canada’s Mission is to represent the Canadian commercial real estate industry on matters of national concern, to develop a strong communications network between its local associations, BOMA International and other real estate associations and promote professionalism of its members through education programs and effective public relations activity.

BOMA Canada is an affiliated member of BOMA International, a federation of 93 BOMA U.S. associations, BOMA Canada and its 11 regional associations and 13 BOMA international affiliates. Founded in 1907, BOMA International represents the owners and managers of all commercial property types including nearly 10 billion square feet of U.S. office space that supports 3.7 million jobs and contributes $205 billion to the U.S. GDP. Its mission is to advance the interests of the entire commercial real estate industry through advocacy, education, research, standards and information.

BOMA Canada will implement timely, responsible and consistent policy positions on issues of critical importance to the Canadian commercial real estate industry. BOMA Canada will proactively identify issues and future trends affecting the industry. BOMA Canada will develop an action plan to represent BOMA members and the industry. BOMA Canada will act as the voice representing the industry, by advocating on their collective behalf with senior bureaucrats and politicians on a national (and/or provincial) platform at Parliament Hill. BOMA Canada’s Advocacy Committee will act as a liaison between the Board of Directors and the specialist Advocacy Committees and Task Forces.

BOMA Canada is governed by:

  • Executive Committee – who are elected to exercise the powers of the Board of Directors
  • Board of Directors which consists of the Official Designate of each of the eleven Canadian Local BOMA Associations as well as the Chair of the Local Chief Staff Officers Council.

Councils, Committees and Task Forces

BOMA Canada’s national councils, committees and task forces are comprised of senior industry professionals who review and manage Canadian issues within their respective areas of expertise. These groups meet regularly to update and/or make recommendations to the Board of Directors of BOMA Canada, and provide information briefs for BOMA members in Canada.
